Advice, Referrals, Result

Can I call and speak to a Doctor for advice?
If you need to speak to your GP, the receptionist on duty will take your message and contact details and your call will be returned as quickly as possible. We cannot specify a time for the doctor to ring you as this depends on the doctor’s daily workload – when very busy, it may take 48 hours before a routine (non-urgent) call is returned.
If the advice you require is of an urgent nature, please highlight this to the receptionist in order that you can speak to the doctor at their earliest opportunity.

How long does it take to get test results?
It depends on the test that you have had done. You will be told at the time of the test generally how long the result will take.

How do I get test results?
If you have had a test carried out either in the surgery or if you are referred to a hospital, it is ESSENTIAL that you phone your doctor for the results within 7 – 10 days of the procedure taking place.
Most call-backs will be made either in the lunchtime period or directly after surgery is finished in the late afternoon/evening.
Please note that Reception and Administration staff are NOT PERMITTED to give test results to patients unless specifically instructed to by a Doctor.

Results via Text messaging?
In order to accelerate getting results to patients efficiently in some cases you may receive details of results by text message. If you receive a result by text, it generally means that the doctor does not need to speak to you any further in relation to this until at least your next appointment.
This is a no-reply text service, so the doctor cannot receive or read any inward messages.
